We got in the van and drove down a rural road in arkansas, united states. On the side of that road, we found whittington creek. Not that great of a recording, but this is the loud sound of hundreds of cicadas in a tree outside my home in nashville, tennessee, in 2011. These are 13-year cicadas which emerge in large numbers every 13 years in summertime. Recorded with an iphone.
